

Game 1 – Charlie, Olivia, James, Louie
James nabbed the first Knights’ try, before Olivia added a second, absolutely steam-rolling through a tackle to get to the line! Louie made good advantage after a Chew fumble and ran the length of the field to give Kingswood a two-try advantage. Charlie was then over, offering good support to Luis, and Olivia and James both nabbed scores to see the half-time score at 5-7. A great run from Louie started the second half, with James providing good close support to get the point on the board. James quickly added another, after a lovely jinking run, before a good pass from Louie saw Olivia over. James was over again before the end in the face of some determined defending, the match ending 8-11.
Game 2 – Ben, Finlay, Ethan, Jacob
Ben was in first in this game, a lovely run first drifting wide left before cutting in to the middle. Ethan was then over after a scramble before some good running from Jacob put Chew on the back foot and Ben supported for the try. Jacob was provider again, this time teeing up Finlay, before a fantastic team effort, with passing and running from all four for the next score. Finlay grabbed the last try of the half, going over in the left corner. 6-7 at half time. Fin started where he left off to grab try one of the second half, before another excellent team effort, all involved in the move. The team ethos continued, and Ethan provided good support to score on the left, and then Ben provided support after a strong run from Fin and an 8-11 lead for the Knights. Three Chew tries pegged the score back to level, but two tries from Ben nudged the ‘wood back into the lead before the final whistle – 12-13 the final score.
Game 3 - Charlie, Olivia, James, Louie
Olivia was first on the score sheet, before a fine team effort from these four, and some determined recycling of the ball saw James over. Louie showed a lovely sidestep for the next, before another score from James, set-up by a fine pass from Olivia. 5-4 at half-time. Olivia was first in again in the second half, scoring in the left corner, and was over again but not before Charlie. James made a great run down the right for the next try, and then nabbed the game for Kingswood – good team defence saw Chew spill the ball, and James swept it up before a lung-buster to the other end to ground the ball, 8-9 the score at the whistle.
Game 4 – Ben, Fin, Ethan, Jacob
Ben and Finlay combined for the Knights’ first four tries in this game and put Kingswood into a two-point lead, before James (playing for Chew!) rallied his team-mates into a comeback that saw the half end 5-4. James was at it again at the start of the second to make it 6-4 to the home side, before Ben pulled one back after good running from Jacob. James nabbed a further try for Chew and, despite two more for the Knights (Ben and Finlay), led the home team to victory, 10-7.
Some really good team play today. Hats off to Ollie and Ethan who both shook off knocks, and well done to James for his performances for both sides!
Game 5 - Jack F, Zane, Ryan K, George, Ben
Chew started the game with a quick try. Ryan drew the score back but Chew once again scored. Alternative trys followed from both teams with Zane, George, Ryan, and Zane again scoring for the Knights. However the Start by Chew and the end of half finishing play put them 7-5 at half time. Chew started the second half with another try putting them 3 points in the lead. The Knights decided that this was enough and Ben stormed through to score, great defence pushed Chew into touch and Kingswood made the most as Zane weaved and ran through the opposition, a last minute offload to Ben clawed another point back. Jack went over the line twice, and trys from Ryan, Ben and a last minute score from Zane finished the game 12-12.
Game 6 - Ollie, Conner, Alfred, Will T, Jack F
Kingswood kicked off the game but a fumble threatened to hand the advantage to the home team; a great recovery by Ollie saved the point as he scored. The Knight's defence forced the opposition to fumble and Alfred fed the ball to Ollie for a 2-0 lead. Chew came back with a try but Will and Conner put lovely exchange play on and Will grounded the ball. Another 2 by Ollie saw the Knights close the first half 5-4 to the good. The second half start by Chew was met with the Kingswood defence and forced into touch. Jack took the opportunity to notch up another point. Ollie and Jack took turns to set each other up and scored one each. Alfred and Will joined in and each put another point on the Kingswood scoreboard. A nice finish by Ollie closed out the game 11-8 to the Knights.
Game 7 - Zane, Ryan K, George, Jack F
Chew took the start and soon had 2 points on the board. Zane made the first promising Kingswood run, passing to Jack who in turn passed to George for the try. Chew scored again, however so did Jack. Trys from Zane and George held the 2 point deficit and the first half finished 5-7 with Chew having the upper hand. Kingswood came out all guns blazing in the second half. Zane and Jack put together some fantastic passages of play to pull the score back even. George added another 2 and Ryan and Jack put one each over the try line. Chew scored a few of their own but when George crossed the line to score the finishing try; the final score was 14-14.
Game 8 - Conner, Will T, Alfred, Ollie
Kingswood started but a fumbled receive by Ollie gave Chew the lead. Another Chew try followed and it looked like a bleak start for the Knights. Ollie lead the fight back with a brilliant run ending in a try, then another run which this time ended with an offload to Will; who grounded the ball for the point. Chew came back but the score was cancelled out by feeding play from Alfred to Will, ending up with Ollie for the try. Alfred closed the first half out with a scoreline of 6-7, the Knights being behind. Conner made a great run and when he was tagged; Alfred was there to receive the pass and score. Ollie, Alfred and Conner all scored subsequent trys but despite a valiant effort; the game went to the home team with a score of 14-13.
Great spirit and team play was demonstrated by all the players but player of the match went to Liv for outstanding play in amongst a high standard of competition. This fixture rounded off a run of 7 games without defeat for the under 7s team!
