KINGSWOOD AIR
(All Inclusive Rugby)

The Kingswood AIR was established as part of the Kingswood Rugby Club Community to support players, with additional needs, who were finding elements of the wider game challenging as they transitioned from Tag to full contact games.

Larger groups were often overwhelming, and the contact within the fast paced game impacted our players physically, emotionally or/and mentally due to their additional needs including neurodivergence.

Several dedicated parents got together wanting to give their children an Inclusive opportunity whilst still having a love for Rugby.

AIR was created!

All of our AIR players have identified additional needs: from differences in Communication, Neurodivergence, Attention and listening skills, even medical and physical needs.

AIR is a safe and Inclusive place. We are fortunate to be supported by trained Rugby Coaches, whose Rugby knowledge keeps AIR focused, fun and competitive.

Alongside our coaches we have a team of dedicated support members who may offer 1 to 1 support to individuals if needed, supporting our coaches and encouraging participation and good communication skills within the sessions.

Our AIR team have a vast amount of knowledge and skills through their own jobs, roles and personal experiences of supporting their children with additional needs.

We work alongside the individuals and families to encourage the Rugby’s TREDS values and ethos.

Players are supportive and understanding of each other during tailored and carefully planned adaptive training sessions. Families comment "we feel like one big family" offering support to each other, and forming life long friendships together.

Kingswood as a club is growing at an incredibly fast pace and we are keen to remain an internal part of it, and we would like to champion Diversity and Inclusive values across the whole club.

Players and their families are encouraged to access the knowledge and skills within AIR....
A quieter session, adapted activities, understanding and support are all offered.

AIR meet on Wednesday evenings 6.30-7.30 at the Main club site, moving indoors locally during the winter months.
