Old Bristolians Vs Kingswood

Kingswood’s final game of the season see us rock up to Old B’s in a confident mood, it’s been a while since the girls played competitively and we can feel the excitement. Old B’s start but are immediately stopped in their tracks by a tough Kingswood defence, Kingswood steal the ball and following a good run from Louise Merrifield its Paige Woodward that gets the ball over the line. From the restart Old B’s push forward with endeavour but following some great tackles from Felicity Jenkins and Kaira Touray the ball is held up and Old B’s win a scrum on the 5m line, they push forward but are held up again and Kingswood take control, Paige Woodward gets the ball over to put Kingswood further ahead. Kaira Touray breaks and gains ground and gets a pass off to Katie Hodge who is coming from deep and at pace, unfortunately Katie Hodge fumbles the ball and its knocked forward, Kingswood again fight to regain possession, the play ebbs and flows for the next few minutes with Kaira Touray making a break but again we lose the ball forward. Old B’s win another couple of scrums Kingswood win the next one and we use stack ball for Kaira Touray to break through and score.
Kingswood start the second quarter, Old B’s are caught trying to challenge from an offside position and Kingswood attack with a good run from Esme Payne and its Evie Coombs that ground the ball. Old B’s restart and again Kingswood steal, but again it’s our hands that let us down as the ball is lost forward. Old B’s attack again and a solid Kingswood defence sees the ball taken to touch. Great tackles by Paige Woodward , Summer Chick and Esme Payne sees the ball contested all over the pitch, Kingswood end up getting the ball to Madeline Chappell to score her first of the day. Kingswood spend too much time celebrating and are caught with a quick Old B’s break and they get a score. The points have given old B’s a bit of belief and they push forward for more despite some good Kingswood tackles Old B’s go over again. Kingswood attack from the restart and Kaira Touray charges through and lays the ball off for Evie Coombe to get another score. The second quarter ends with some great tackling by Summer Chick.
Old B’s start the next period really well and manage to break through and score. Kingswood restart but knock on and concede the scrum, great tackle by Louise Merrifield and Kingswood steal possession, Felicity Jenkins takes the ball and pushes through to score. Old B’s restart and a great tackle by Felicity Jenkins sees the ball come loose, old B’s dive on the ball but good rucking from Summer Chick sees Kaira Touray scoop the ball up and take it to score. Old B’s have possession but good pressure from Paige Woodward sees us push them out. Kingswood mounts another assault with Katie Hodge making space with great footwork and Felicity Jenkins finishing in the corner.
We step out for the final period of play for the ‘Wolfpack’ . Felicity Jenkins gets us started with a great charge and finishes the move herself. Old B’s start but Katie Hodge rips the ball and makes ground before being pushed out, Kingwoods react well at the next breakdown and Summer Chick cleans up by getting the ball down. Old B’s push forward but Kingswood are devastating in the tackle and very quick at the breakdown , Old B’s have possession in our half but Felicity Jenkins rips and runs the length of the field for another score. Old B’s restart and its now Stephanie Penlington that hitting the tackles hard and force a Kingswood scrum, some great footwork from Paige Woodward sees her get another try. Old B’s restart and attack us down the flank but Kaira Touray takes them out in the corner, Kingswood turn the ball over and Madeline Chappell punches a hole through the home team and scores from well inside our own half. Old B’s restart and good pressure sees the ball come loose and again Madeline Chappell takes the opportunity to get another try to her name. Old B’s start but Kingwood just hold them back with some fantastic tackling and teamwork. The ref blows for the end of the game and so ends an epic session for The Wolfpack.
