So here we are at the very first girl’s festival of rugby at Kingswood RFC !
With 100 girls in attendance they are split into 2 pools of 5 teams.

Game One
K start the day with Cheddar and Wells as our opponents.
Cheddar start and wake up a sleepy Kingswood with the first try of the day. Kingswood push back with great attacking phases and finishes the first half ahead with tries from Kaira Touray, Gabrielle Norman and Felicity Jenkins.
We start the second half and there is some great defending from both sides, players being taken into touch at both ends and some great awareness at the scrum. Cheddar and Wells show great passion and get a couple more tries but its K who finish the strongest with tries from Felicity Jenkins, Kaira Touray, Katie Hodge and Paige Prince.
Final score : Kingswood 7-3 Cheddar & Wells

Game Two
The second visitors for us today are.
The Hornets from Weston.
They start and it's a hectic first half which swings back and forth. A high tackle, a knock on, a penalty for K it's all go on in this one. Hornets get over our line a couple of times but its two tries from Katie Hodge and another from Paige Prince that gives us the lead at the whistle.
The battle resumes and we see some good pressure from Paige Cornford and Summer Chick. K seem to be much stronger in the second half with some great support play from Evie Coombs who is very vocal today .Hornets manage just the one score but K march on with two tries from Felicity Jenkins and another from Kaira Touray to secure the win.
Final score: Kingswood 6-3 Hornets

Game 3
Again K are thrown straight back into action against Winscombe.
K start the game well and the tempo is high. Madeline Chappell gets over the line finishing some great teamwork from K. Winscombe look a bit shell shocked from the early onslaught from K but do well to slow the rampant wolf pack. The first half comes to an end by which time Gabrielle Norman, Kaira Touray and Felicity Jenkins have added to our score.
Winscombe start and seem to settle well early and force K back but great defensive cover sees them pushed out or held up and it's K who push back to get a score from Gabrielle Norman after a great run from Louise Merrifield. Summer Chick with a great run gets the ball over quickly followed by Felicity Jenkins as K increase their advantage. Kingswood are starting to celebrate too early and are caught twice by the visitors to make the score a little more respectful.
Final score: Kingswood 7-2 Winscombe.

Game 4
The final game for Kingswood today against Minehead Dolphins.
Four Games in a row with only a 5 minute break in-between !
The girls look tired and the deteriorating pitch is making it heavy underfoot. Minehead are quick off the mark and make possession count with a score.K replies almost immediately through Kaira Touray but we now know we are in a fight to remain undefeated. Good handling and speed from Minehead especially at the scrum leaves us wanting and we concede a further 3 tries before half time.
And so the last half of the last game begins and following a half time full of discussion K look focused. K start but play is soon halted as two players go down injured. K start the fight back with Kaira Touray bringing home the points. Minehead push forward but strong defence sees them pushed out near our try line. A further scrum to Minehead sees them score again. Fantastic pressure from our girls and great determination from Madeline Chappell sees her get a score. The next phase sees Felicity Jenkins power through with a great run and finish with a try. But sadly the whistle is blown and K have their first defeat of the day.
Final score: Kingswood 4-5 Minehead.
