4 x 10 minute quarters

Hornets to start and begin with a knock on Kingswood scrum but it comes to nothing. Hornets spread the ball well from their own scrum and punish some sloppy K defending with the first score. K fight back and get Madeline Chappell over the line to get our first points. At the next breakdown it's Gabrielle Norman who comes out of the ruck with the ball. Some great hands from our girls sees Gabrielle Norman get on the scoreboard. Both teams win a couple of scrums each and seem quite evenly matched but it's K who rip the ball and get it out to Felicity Jenkins who scores from our own half. Felicity Jenkins then follows that with a dazzling run resulting in another score. Hornets win a scrum but good pressure from Summer Chick and Katie Hodge sees the ball turned over and again its Felicity Jenkins that finishes the move.
K start the next quarter but the ball is knocked on and a scrum conceded. Good pressure from Hornets sees them again breakthrough our defence and score despite K holding them up twice. Hornets attack again and K steal the ball on their own try line and it's Paige Woodward that races away to score with two K players as her only company .Hornets are ripping well but they knock on and K win the scrum, K then knock on and the home side scores from their own scrum. K pass the ball well from the restart Louise Merrifield and Paige Woodward linking well and the ball travels out to Paige Prince who finishes in the corner. From the restart its K who are winning at the breakdown and rip the ball and get it to Felicity Jenkins who again finds the try line.
Hornets start the 3rd quarter and apply some good early pressure and push through our defence to get a try. Some more broken play sees both teams exchange scrums but then it's time for Paige Cornford to get her fist ever try for K with a lovely finish. A good attack from K sees Katie Hodge taken out and Hornets go on to score quickly. K start for the last quarter of the game and K seem to be up against a rejuvenated Hornets side who are making good use of the second team they have on the bench. K make some good early ground but are pushed out in the corner. Hornets use the ball well but great pressure from K sees us turn the ball over and it's Kaira Touray turn to get some well-deserved points. We gain possession again and are working the ball out well but then knock on to surrender possession. Great tackling and cover from K but we are starting to tire and Hornets break through to score. Again it's K who throws themselves into the next attack and Katie Hodge is caught with high tackle and the whistle blows. The Hornets ref gives the penalty to them for an "alleged" hand off. Tensions are running high as every decision goes with the home side No matter how hard we defend it's not gonna be our day and Hornets take advantage with another try. It's the last play of the game and all we have to do is hold on to our slender lead but In the last seconds K lose possession and are caught with a good run from Hornets who go over for the final score of the match.
