Tries Galore by Kingswood U13 Girls

This week the U13 girls were away to Old Bristolians. The Kingswood side looked much taller and bigger that the home side, but knew that they were not to be under-estimated. From the start Kingswood appeared to be the stronger side, moving the ball easily along the line, with bursts through the Old B’s defence resulting in some great tries. When defending Kingswood were tackling well and holding a great defence line, making it hard for Old B’s to break through. Tia Witcombe and Gracie Veitch played well, supporting each other and putting in some hard tackles as well as great running . Amy Hodge and Charlotte Marsden also had a great game with some quick running along the wings but also tackling very well when defending. Katie Hodge , Maizie Davis and Gabrielle Norman worked well together in the center of the pitch, with some crunching tackles and picking up of loose ball as well as some great running bursts which kept the ball alive and the game flowing. Hope Vardakis and Chloe Reilly had some strong runs making lots of ground and managing to break through the Old B’s defence on several occasions, also presenting and passing the ball cleanly, as well as supporting excellently. The first half resulted in Kingswood leading 7 tries to 3. Kingswood tries were scored by Amy (1), Grace (3), Tia (2) and Hope (1).
Kingswood upped their game in the second half. A quick first try from the starting tap by Tia seemed to start the barrage of tries that followed. Great picking up of loose ball and ripping of the ball saw Kingswood constantly turn over possession, ultimately scoring from many of these opportunities. Great passing of the ball along the line saw Kingswood increase their lead substantially within the first few minutes. Old Bristolians did manage to score a few more tries, generally when they managed to break through a tackle and score from the restart tap. In this half Kingswood scored a further 15 tries to Old Bristolians 5. Kingswood’s were scored by Amy (2), Tia (3), Grace (2), Chloe (1), Hope (1), Gabby (2), Lottie (1), Maizie (1) and Katie (2).
The final score Kingswood 22 – Old Bristolians 8. With all of the Kingswood side scoring at least 1 try each.
