No Kingswood Touch team had ever beaten the Royals before, but apparently no one had bothered to tell this to the Saxons. Racing into a 3-1 lead within the first 5 minutes, the Royals were shell shocked and the Saxons were on fire. Doing the basics and exploiting the mistakes made by the Royals kept the game evenly balanced at half time, with the Saxons winning by 1. Some interesting refereeing decisions began to tell though, as Kingswood found themselves with two male players asked to leave the field in quick succession as tempers frayed and the pressure began to tell. Still, the defence continually held firm, with one magic turnover on the Saxon's own 5m resulting in Bex Mclaughlin sprinting the length of the field to put Kingswood 1 up with 5 to go. With no subs available, fatigue reared its ugly head and 2 quick tries at the death found the Royals the winners by one. Whilst it was a loss, the Saxons came off with their heads held high, having arguably produced one of the best Kingswood performances in the league in a number of years. GO SAXONS!!
