Over the past season, many of you will have seen and used the new changing rooms inside the big blue building at Kingswood RFC HQ. This facility represents over 10 years of fundraising and volunteer effort, and is a huge milestone for the club.

While teams have already benefitted from the new spaces, work has continued behind the scenes. Through ongoing fundraising – including a 70-mile non-stop walk, a 1,995-mile cycle ride, and other events, we continue to secure the funds to complete two additional RFU-compliant changing rooms, bringing the project closer to full completion.

Like any major project, we’ve faced challenges along the way. Most recently, a burst water pipe caused by cold weather led to significant damage and prevented the planned opening in January. Thanks to the quick actions of club volunteers, the impact was reduced, but repair work is still ongoing.

As a result of both the damage and funding considerations, we now anticipate the changing rooms will be fully open and ready for use within the next couple of months.

A huge thank you to Skuse Electrical Services for their work on the build and the club volunteers that have helped with painting, cleaning and everything else, also a special mention to Richard Shacklock for driving the project forward while balancing work, family, and other club commitments over the last 12 months
