Kingswood secured their biggest try haul of the season so far as they put eight tries past BAC to make it 15 tries in 2 games and just 3 points against. After finally getting some decent numbers back at training in the week, Kingswood managed to put on a fine display despite the boggy pitch conditions and squad reshuffle.
Centre, Paul Allen, returned to the line-up but was required to play at Scrum Half. Number 8, Nick Coe, was supporting Dean Stephens in the Centre and Captain Honeywell dropped back to Full Back. Kingswood also welcomed back Ian Kirley from his shoulder injury sustained near the start of the season.
Kingswood had the game and bonus point sewn up by half time as they controlled possession and territory from the first whistle. Tries were provided by Paul Allen, Roland Gabriel, Joe Jones-Griffiths and Ashley Honeywell. The 2nd half was a lot quieter from Kingswood, with BAC seeing a lot more of the ball as the home-side got on the wrong side of the referee, but eventually Kingswood regained control and proceeded to run in another 4 tries, this time from Nick Coe, Dan Howlett, Dave Vince and another from Roland Gabriel.
Video highlights are just there to the left, be sure to keep an eye out for Mark Oakley’s wonderful Sonny Bill Williams style offload to put Joe Jones-Griffiths away for Kingswood’s 4th try.
Congratulations to Dan Howlett who was awarded the Man of the Match trophy.
The win sees Kingswood remain 4th in the league, but they are now just 1 point behind Old Colstonians with a game in hand and a far superior point’s difference.
Next Saturday, Kingswood travel to Broad Plain as they look to continue this rich vein of form.
Quote of the Day - "Come on guys, all they have is a scrum" - Heard coming from the BAC huddle behind the posts.
