2 wins from 2 in the league, but still many lessons to learn.

CLUB Captain, Ashley Honeywell, bagged an impressive 27 point haul as KINGSWOOD maintained their unbeaten start to life back in Gloucester 2 with a comfortable victory over Aretians.

Kingswood knew that the visitors would put up strong resilience in the Forwards, so set out to put their impressive running game to work on their large pitch.

Roland Gabriel bagged the first 2 tries of the afternoon, which were both converted by Honeywell, before Aretians responded with a try of their own after some strong Forwards play. However, Aretians passion for a fight back was soon extinguished as Honeywell sliced open the defence to grab Kingswood’s 3rd try just before half time. Again, Honeywell added the extras.

The 2nd half was a much more controlled affair from Kingswood, despite the fact that Aretians went uncontested, which snuffed out any more opportunities to steal ball against the head, giving the visitors much more possession.

Nonetheless, Kingswood stuck to their game plan and Ashley Honeywell and Robbie Edwards set about causing havoc down the left hand side. Fly-Half Dean Stephens grabbed Kingswood’s bonus point try early in half, and after that, the floodgates opened. Honeywell and Edwards made numerous breaks from which Honeywell grabbed his 2nd and 3rd tries of the afternoon, and although Edwards didn’t grab a try himself, on one such break he selflessly popped a pass back inside to Hooker, Dave Vince, he gladly trotted over to grab Kingswood’s 7th.

Aretians had the last say in the match as they were awarded several penalties in Kingswood’s 22, before their Centre slipped through to secure their 2nd try of the day.

The final score. Kingswood 47-10 Aretians.

Despite the score line, Kingswood were left with a feeling that it should have been a lot more. With points difference possibly having a big say in where the league title goes this season, Kingswood do need to be a bit more clinical in finishing off gilt-edged chances when they present themselves, but with a big commitment to training and as they get more game time under their belts, this will no doubt come sooner rather than later.
