Big K lose it in a game of two halves...

So, away to Painswick this weekend. Few absentees as always but we always dwell on that so lets skip it.

Kingswood arrived late to Painswick having got lost en route, my fault and I accept asshole of match, for it. Having watched the whole DVD from when we last played them we knew to be wary of their well built winger (more to come on that) and that we needed to front up to them.

Having arrived late and not much of a warm up Kingswood were caught napping at the start and let a soft try in the corner to be 7-0 down in the 5 minutes.

This seemed to buoy Kingswood into action and all of sudden Painswick were on the back foot for the next thirty five minutes. With Kingswood dominance in the scrum, superiority in the line-out and better back line Kingswood showed true form to storm 10-12 ahead at half time.

The first score from full back Joe as the forwards took the ball up and sucked players in. Joe received the ball and he once again dummied in the centre to run in unopposed from 20m, he converted his own try.
With the centre pairing owrking well (Paolo stepping around and Mark stepping through) their opposite numbers some good hands but Milky (former flanker turned winger) score his first try for the club (?). Joe was unable to convert. At some point Painswick picked up a penalty, something Kingswood were giving away in abundance.

The second half started much like the first with Painswick taking an early score, taking it to 15-12. unfortunately unlike the first half Kingswood didn't wake back up and were guilty of falling off tackles, giving away far too many penalties and finally conceding another try shortly after. Both tries were uncoverted to make it 20-12, Kingswood knew they had to work hard to get back in the game and at least come away with a bonus point. Matty Bryant made way for a Dave Vince returning from injury.

At the 56 minute mark the afore mentioned Painswick winger made yet another storming run only to be halted in spectacular style by Joe at full back. As the dust settled however joe did not emerge and was found to be sparko and then in an incredible amount of pain. Long story short, joe went off with Ambulance (updates on his progress in Forum) and we moved pitches to finish the game. Neil Ward came on and a re-suffle in pack saw Steve T finish on the wing, Kingswood now had two flankers on the wing.

The change of pitch seemed to wake Kingswood up and after much ball were only ever thwarted by their own knock-ons or penalty count. After many more penalties, one of which we were marched back 10 into kicking distance, painswick converted two of them and were now 26-12 ahead.

With the final 15 minutes looming Kingswood threw everything into the attack, again, only losing out through their own mistakes. With players getting more and more frustrated it was in-evitable that Kingswood lost Dean Stephens to the sin bin with 9 mins left to go. A further re-shuffle had no.8 Macca move into centre.

With the dying moments of the game Kingswood went forward as much as possible, everybodies efforts were nearly rewarded with the last play of the game except for a knock-on near the 5m line.

Final score 26 - 12 to Painswick.

MOM - mentions to Flook, Trev, Joe but it goes to Lewie.
AOM - Lamby for getting lost, Dean did pint in his abscence for sin binning

Kingsood again left to rue what could have been. However, proud that they stuck at it til the end. Tricky game at home at aretians next week and with several players unavailable kingswood cannot afford to be compacent in the slightest.
