Improving every game.

Game 1

Alfred, William, Olivia, Lilly, Finlay, Olly (Ethan)

St. Mary’s started the game, on a glorious morning, but good hassling from Olly and Will pushed the home side into touch. A good run from Olivia set Olly up, and he was over for the first try after a cracking shimmy. Lilly, Olivia and Olly were all involved in a good passing move that saw Alfred in, and he was in again straight after, after good work from Olly to steal a loose ball and assist from Finlay. Alfred was then involved in build-up play to see Olly in for another score. Ethan came on as a sub after Fin took a knock, just in time to see Olly over again. Good runs from Olivia and then Lilly made ground for the Knights, and Alfred put the ball down for his hat-trick to see the visitors lead 4-6 at half-time.

Charlie, James, Zane V, Jacob, Amelia, Jack F (Jack W)

Some god team play and passing saw Jacob over in the left and corner after wholesale personnel changes for the second half. Jacob was then in again, almost straight away, seizing well on a spilt ball and thundering over! Amelia started a passing move, which saw Charlie, Zane V and James involved, with Zane V finishing. James and Zane V combined again to set-up a try for Charlie, and Jack W entered proceedings as a sub. James made a great run for the next try, and then started a move for the next score, Zane V also involved to set Jack F on his way and over after a strong run. He then turned provider, pouncing on a loose ball and finding Jacob on the wing. The wee man still had a lot of work to do, close to the line and with St Mary’s defence in close attendance, but with a hop, skip and a jump he burst through and skilfully kept in play and over for his hat-trick. Superb stuff from the Knights’ player of the day! Charlie was over at the death to put the icing on the cake, the Knights running out 9-14 winners.

Game 2

Zane C, Ryan C, Ben, Sadie-May, Ryan K, Louie

The Knights set their stall out early, and good harrying from Ben pushed St. Mary’s out of play. Ben then turned provider, with a strong run and a quick and accurate offload to Zane C. And we was over for try one after a barnstorming run left the home side in his wake. Good work from the Knights pushed St Mary’s out again, Ryan K this time capitalising after a cracking run from him. Louie then darted out left, drawing defenders with him, and a quick pass to Ryan C saw him storm into the space out right and over in the corner. Yet more good work from the knights won the ball again, and Ben and Sadie-May set-up Ryan K for the next score, before a lovely run from Ben took Kingswood to the half-time whistle with a 3-5 lead.

Olly, Jacob, Zane V, Ethan, James, Will

James set-up Olly for the first score of the half, and both were involved again to send Ethan on his way, his strong direct running seeing him over. It was more of the same for the next try, again Ethan confident and pacey in possession and over. Kingswood’s solid defensive line left St May’s nowhere to go except for out of play, and another super run from Ethan this time saw a lively Zane V over. Will was over in the right corner following a solid run from him, before fresh-legs came into play – Jack F, Amelia, Alfred, Lilly, Jack W and Olivia all coming on for a run-out. Alfred was over for the next try, capping an impressive day from him, but he would regret getting between Olivia and the try line, as he was sent flying as she stormed through for the next score! Ryan C and Charlie came on to see out the game. Both Jacks added to the scorecard and Jack W did some cracking defensive work, before some impressive team work from Lilly and Olivia saw Ryan C over for the final try of the day. 8-13 to the Knights.

17-27 the final score, a margin of victory that reflected some fine team-work and good individual play from Knights, and a measure of progress since last year where only a single point separated the sides.
