Kingswood Vs Ross On Wye

After unveiling their new shirts and new sponsors, it was time for Kingswood to get down to business with a top of the table clash against Ross On Wye.  It was going to be Kingswood's toughest encounter of the season so far and a win was required to maintain there promotion push.

The game got off to a fast and fiery start and Kingswood had a good spell of possession and pressure but could not make it count.  Ross On Wye then started to get into the game and it wasn't long before the first try was scored.  On the half hour mark Ross On Wye were awarded a penalty which they kicked to touch and secured the resulting lineout 5m from the Kingswood tryline.  A rolling maul moved towards the try line and despite Kingswood's defence resisting, No. 1 broke through and dived over to give Ross the lead. 0-5

Kingswood were awarded a penalty two minutes later but Ian Kirley was unable to convert.  Kingswood did however pull 3 points back 4 minutes into injury time when they were awarded a penalty for Ross not retreating 10m. 3-5

Half Time: Kingswood 3 - 5 Ross On Wye

Ross On Wye took an 8 point advantage early in the 2nd half with two penalty kicks for offside and not retreating 10m. 3-11

Neil Ward was then replaced by Alex Green.

Ross On Wye then had their number 5 sent from the field after repeatedly collapsing Kingswood mauls.

Kingswood then scored a wonderfully worked try, unfortunately the referee was in the wrong position and claimed he could not see it, luckily for Kingswood Mark Oakley crashed over just a minute later after Kingswood were awarded a free kick for Ross On Wye delaying a scrum. 8-11

Kingswood then started playing a lot better and started to control the possession and were pressing for the winner but Ross's defence were holding firm.

Matt Davies was then replaced by Steve Trevelyan and Ben Voke came on for Alex Green

Despite Kingswood dominating the end of the game and with the referee playing almost an hour in the 2nd half, Kingswood were unable to grab a winning try slumped to their first home defeat in over 18 months making it very interesting at the top of Gloucester 2.
