Rise to the challenge .........

Gents/Ladies
Larry Howard is organising an epic bike ride to raise funds for the redevelopment of the clubhouse. The idea is to ride to Weymouth on Saturday July 4th, leaving Bitton Railway Station at 8am with various stops en-route, then stay overnight in a hotel, few beers, bit of food, with lots of saddle sore friends and travel back home the next day.
The planning for this is in its infancy, but we already have a handful of people up for the challenge…..
if you are interested, you will need a road bike (chunky tires are slow and tiring) and will need to be able to ride at LEAST 25-30km without stopping because this is roughly how long we'll ride between stops - about every hour or so. The total journey is approx 85miles/130ish km.
The route will be posted up in the clubhouse soon, but will use the Bath tunnels and most importantly, miss out the Mendips!
As well as riders, we will need a back up crew which will consist of a man with a van to bring the bikes back, this van will double up to take water bottles/gels/sweets/cakes to meet us at each stop.
We still need to arrange travel back (depending on numbers), but this might be able to be done with the help of social supporters - ie, anyone who just wants to meet us there for the beer & food :-)
To take part you will also need to get sponsorship for your ride, the more the better but every little helps.
It’s a big challenge but nobody will get left behind and if your bike breaks, or if you break, you can ride the rest of the way in the van/cars. There will be some training rides in the weeks leading up to the day to get everyone ready.

C'mon, you know you want to ……..

Please contact Larry on 07802868086 or ian.howard@openreach.co.uk or ask him at the club on Tues evenings or Sunday morning.

Please note that this is an adult challenge and will not be suitable for Children to take part. Keep an eye out for the younger version of this which will take place on Sunday 7th June .......
