Dear Kingswood Members,

The purpose of this statement is to unambiguously clarify the details of an incident which occurred at Kingswood RFC on Saturday 12th August.

Last Saturday, persons unconnected with Kingswood RFC were alleged to have been taking recreational drugs. These persons were challenged by Kingswood RFC members at the time. The issue was ultimately dealt with by a committee member on Saturday evening. Subsequently, the matter was formally reported by Kingswood RFC to the appropriate authorities. The matter is now under the control of the appropriate Rugby Union and is considered closed at Kingswood RFC’s end.

I would like to reiterate that no Kingswood member or affiliate is implicated. Kingswood RFC operates a zero tolerance to drugs, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the Kingswood RFC members who challenged and reported this behaviour. As a result of this incident, I will ensure the RFU and Kingswood RFC drug policies are clearly displayed at the clubhouse and distributed via the usual electronic channels.

On a personal note. I ask you to take the positives from this incident. Our values have been upheld by our members, which helps make Kingswood RFC the safe and welcoming community hub it aspires to be. With your help, long may that continue.

Regards,

Paul Meaden.
