Kingswood RFC recognised for their hard work within the community.

It was an amazing night for Kingswood RFC on Thursday as they took the accolade of ‘Community Club of the Year’ at a star-studded event at the Bristol Marriott Hotel. In the first event of its kind, Kingswood saw off strong competition from Bedminster Cricket Club and Trojan Fitness to take home the Bristol Post plaque.

Kingswood were awarded the trophy based on the unbelievable amount of hard work that has gone into promoting Kingswood, and rugby as sport, to the local community. The judges were impressed that only a few years ago, Kingswood had only 1 junior team consisting of just 8 players, but yet this season we proudly boast a membership of around 170 kids.

This is down in no small part to Derek Golding and his amazing team of volunteers, who work tirelessly to make sure Kingswood RFC grow and thrive within the local area.

We have always known within the club just what goes on behind the scenes, but to be recognised for this at a regional level is fantastic and very much deserved.

A big well done and thank you to Derek and everyone that gives up their time to coach, cook, arrange, sort, sell and cheer each week. It truly is a remarkable achievement.
